Swaps & time off

Cover a shift, trade with a teammate, or request a day off — and how managers decide.

Shift swaps

There are three ways to hand off a shift you can't work:

  • Ask anyone to cover — posts the shift so any teammate can pick it up.
  • Ask a specific person — sends the request straight to one teammate.
  • Trade — offer one of your shifts in exchange for one of theirs; approving the trade reassigns both.

Add an optional note, send it, and a manager approves or denies. You can cancel a swap while it's still pending.

Time-off requests

Anyone can request time off from Request time off — pick the date range and add a reason if you like. It shows as pendinguntil a manager decides, and you can cancel it while it's pending. Approved time off shows up as a warning when a manager tries to schedule you on those days.

How managers approve

Owners and managers review requests under Team → Swaps and Team → Time off. Approve or deny with one tap; a full decision history is kept so you can see who decided what and when, and change a decision later if needed.

A couple of rules

Managers can't approve their ownrequests — someone else on the management team decides. And right after you approve or deny, there's a few-second window to undo before it's sent, in case of a misclick.

Plans

Shift swaps and approving swaps and time off are part of the Team plan— included in your 30-day trial and on a paid Team or Business plan. Once the trial ends, you'll need a paid plan to keep using them.
